I’ve had cars sit for years. Assuming you’re aware of its status, no rodents, etc, you can crank it up and run it. Turn it by hand or let it crank with the fuel shut off if it makes you feel better.
That’s not why they chose AZ. Lack of precipitation and lack of exposure to water in the ground is why airplanes are stored in AZ, or the high desert of California.
unplug fuel pump/relay
check engine and transmission oil
crank until oil pressure light goes out or until oil is coming out around the rockers/camshaft under the valve cover
try and start it
i bought a car that had sat for 4 years, put it on a battery charger for a day, and it fired right up, drove fine, and promptly overheated (failed thermostat)
