I bought several of these for less than $4/filter on eBay last year and this is the first one I have ran on my dad's 2015 Escape, they're all made from around 2011-2015, this one was probably made in 2012 or early 2013, I couldn't make out the date code as it was too small and almost like it was all smooshed together and the numbers were etched over themselves. The filters hold up great after 10 years of storage and 1 year of service in my dad's daily driver. Any blemishes on the ADBV are probably caused by me I find the best way to drain the cans is to stick small nails up under the adbv, they drain real fast and you get most of the oil out if you do that while the oil is still warm.

I have 3 Ph8A Ultra filters, and no longer have a vehicle that uses them. And probably never will, as I can no longer drive due to spinal cord injury..Trying to sell for $5 each. Of course they are the old GOOD ones

If I could use 8A I would but Ford changed the oil filter mount at some point and it's too close to the engine mount so only the 3614 and 3600 (and by extension the 2870A) will fit.

Right! So much for a 5 year "Shelf Life". Here we still have a good usable filter, with age, that has done well. $4 a piece is sweet deal when you look back now on these "Rare" wire backed filters.
I think the XG2870A are typically cheaper because very few people want them, they mostly fit some VWs that use spin-ons and that's it, but at the end of the day they're pretty much a 3600 with a higher bypass, seems to work fine on the 2.5L.

good info... There are some "little known" filters out there that get no love but are very cost effective and functional. I bought several 6-7 year old purolator one's off eb** that I plan to use & they still appear in great shape. Purolator was quick to tell me that mine are old & they recommend a 5 year end of life. I just chuckled and laughed my way to the bank. :ROFLMAO:

I have a bunch of those too, but I figure I'll find something to use them on, PH8A/FL-1A is a very popular remote filter size, & the OG makes a VERY good remote transmission filter. @Motorking Jay Buckley always stated that the full synthetic media filters have a nearly unlimited shelf life, unlike cellulose/blend, as long as you keep the humidity exposure down (rust).

Unsurprising to me, looks good at the stated fci. At the stated interval topic, filter just getting warmed up. If storage was decent no reason to think filter wouldn't be fine. Biggest concern might have been some surface rust, unlikely synthetic media affected.

Curious how if you couldn't make out the date code that you conclude 2012-13? Best information, late 2012- early 2013 is when the XG changed from the Xtended Guard to the Ultra. The former a solid filter too, just a tad lower efficiency. Assume since title says Ultra, that's what box and can says.

Thanks for c&p.

I've seen several older Ultra boxes and filters I'm pretty sure I've seen them with Copyright 2013 dates on them which means they changed the packaging in 2012 then again in 2013 so I know that the filter with a copyright 2012 date date on it was made between 2012 and sometime in 2013 when they started printing copyright 2013 on them, I think I've seen copyright 2014, 2015, then they didn't change the packaging again until 2017 and then in 2019 and then again in 2021 and I haven't paid much attention to the new Ultras since I don't intend on ever buying any. The only thing I could find on the can that was a date code was very small and it was almost like the numbers didn't get spaced and they drew the next digits overlapping the previous digits or something because I couldn't make out 6 characters. I think I may have scratched the paint off in the area it was etched when I cut the filter open but I have a pretty granular idea of the age anyways even without the date code.

^^^ Yeah, the older Ultras (at least 6-7 years or so IIRC) had the date code etched into the paint instead of printed on the can like they are now.
