The only aspect of "severe" in my driving is 1-2 short trips per day (less than five miles). The criterion listed in Hyundai's maintenance schedule says "frequent short trips". How does one classify "frequent" in the number of trips? Is that more than one? 3-5?

Severe OCI is 3,000 miles or 3 months vs Normal being 5,000 miles or 6 months. I always use fully synthetic oil 5W30. I've been doing Normal but should I change to Severe?

I had a 2013 KIA Optima 2.4. The owners manual called for 7,500 mile normal service and 3,750 severe service. Every 5,000 miles was my OCI. I used 5W30. As far as oil grades, Hyundai/KIA was all over the place in their recommendations. The 2.4 called for 5w20. 5w30 and 10w30 were acceptable. The 2.0 called for 5W30. 10W30 and 5w40 were acceptable.
