Nope. Ammo lasts forever, unless stored in a wet environment that induces corrosion to the case. Moisture, specifically salt water spray, will corrode the cases fast.
BTW, Most of the .50 caliber rounds used by our Armed services were made during WWII or Korea.
Also, The AC-130 Specter Gunships that recently had their 40mm Bofors guns replaced were done so because only recently, like 2010, the 40mm ammo manufactured during WWII started drying up. It was cheaper to replace the guns with a more standardized and updated Gun, in a standardized loading, than to find a company to manufacture new ammo for the 40mm Bofors cannon.
I have a friend that have .45 ACP cases that are headstamped by year. Their collection is from 1944 - 1960 (or pretty close). From what he told me from his tests it all goes "bang".
If stored in a dry environment Ammo lasts forever.
