Like the time I went to one of the casinos in Joliet when they still made you get on a boat. It was Presidents Day weekend and the place was pretty crowded so I had to wait for a machine. A couple of rows over I hear some commotion and I see that a woman hit the jackpot on her machine and while she's waiting for the workers to verify it, I see her wave to a friend of hers and hold up two fingers. About 5 minutes later the machine next to her opens up so I sat down and within maybe another 5 minutes she hits the jackpot again. Since she was stuck waiting again I mentioned that I saw her a while ago holding up two fingers and did this mean she hit her third jackpot? Sure enough, she said that she'd been at the machine maybe 45 minutes and hit the top jackpot 3 times. These were quarter machines and IIRC, the top jackpot was $1200.

Some casinos will cap machines at $1199. Any jackpots equal or above $1200 have to be reported to the IRS. There are forms to fill out and you have to show ID and provide your SS number else they will withhold taxes. Many folks would rather like to avoid having to show ID and deal with tax liabilities. And the casinos down't mind paying you less money that you otherwise would have won.

He is in the casino a couple of hours and of course is out of money. He goes to some cash machine in the casino and puts his bank card in and withdraws a couple hundred dollars. He then takes that cash to another machine where he buys chips with that cash. He's standing there and bells and horns start sounding and he's confused, thinks maybe he's won something. Next thing ya know security surrounds him and hauls him away to a secure room where he is questioned/accused of using counterfeit money. They hold him for hours until they review their security cameras a see he is using the very cash dispensed to him by their own bank machine. Eventually he is let go but banned from the casino for life.

Makes you wonder about the whole business.

This guy might be banned but the story about alarms sounding sounds bogus to me. I've never heard of a machine that dispenses chips.
