New pup in the house!

We lost our 14 year old mixed breed rescue dog in May and it hasn't seemed right with only 1 dog around so....last Saturday we picked up a little red cattle dog female to go with our 7 year old blue. She was in a litter of 14 puppies that all lived, the owners and momma dog are so tired of puppies! They had to bottle feed 7 of them every feeding since dogs only have 8 teats.

This is the one! Her name is Ruby.

Thanks. She's a hoot for sure. Cooper the wonderdog is the best dog I've ever shared life with. He bonded with me, our hope was and it already looks like Ruby is going to be mama's girl. We were concerned because Cooper doesn't tolerate any dog coming close to us so we were careful having them meet on neutral ground and I was hands off the pup for a couple of days. He ignored her for a while but he's warming up now and they've been playing chase a little bit. Funny thing, all the annoying puppy things are minor at this point in our life. We needed a little joy around here and she brings it. Fun times ahead.

Nice! An interesting breed. I once read that if a cattle dog is near a group of other dogs, such at a sitting facility, they will out of instinct try to "herd" the other dogs as if they were cattle.
