Need a good oem replacement radiator

I bought a new radiator for my 94 Jeep back in winter. I bought it from Advance auto and used one of the codes to buy on internet. It had all fittings and connectors I needed and went into place without any significant hassles. It has been in use for 7 months now without any leaks. Don't remember actual brand name. I got it for slightly less than $100 with the discount. You may look for current discount codes in the forum.

I got two from Radiator barn 1 for my 89 GMC 1 ton. I towed for three years with it. Not one problem. The one I have in the Buick is from there, 20,000 miles and no issues.
I paid 200 bucks for the trucks and 99 bucks for the Buicks.

I'm pretty sure that Modine exited out of the automotive radiator market 6-10 years ago. I still have a Modine in my garage that I was going to put in my Aerostar, but it never happened. At the time I bought it, both NAPA and O'Reilly sold Modine radiators. I looked on their web site about a year ago and at the time, there was no mention of the automotive line.

Every Visteon I used was okay. I have been told Visteon serves Ford sort of like how Delphi serves GM.

And given that your OE radiator lasted 28 years, I am sure it was not aluminum with that plastic junk.

No it's not plastic . I thnk it all aluminum . Where you get visteon from ?

Vista Pro "Ready Rads" are not bad (does Visteon still make radiators??) for what they are (made in Mexico, non-welded alloy/plastic tanked deals).

The only one I've seen had the Visteon logo on the side tank (why I asked the above question. Was their radiator division sold off to Vista Pro???).

I bought a SPI as a replacement for my Honda in 2000. It was all metal to replace metal/plastic. I initially thought that was great until the solder joints on the tanks starting leaking after only three years. The dealer made good on the warranty in 2003 and by then SPI was using aluminum/plastic. There is nothing at all wrong with that. That one was still on the car, leak free, when I had my accident in 2012. I put in excess of 100,000 miles on it. I installed a Koyo for my ex-wife on her Odyssey and it was fine six years later when she traded the thing in.

Both radiators were $100. I believe that radiators have become more of a commodity. If you really want to get trick and spend several hundred bucks you could go all aluminum. I believe aluminum/brass/copper radiators to be vestigial.

Spi has a prety big failure rate. So I'm told by my suppliers. Modine was bought out about 20 yrs ago actully. Some one else may be selling rads under the modine name but they are not the same as in the past.

Just took a look on the 'bay. A stunning number of choices.

FWIW, the plastic end tanks last 8 to 10 years in normal service. I don't see any real advantage to plastic end tanks, other than manufacturing costs (possibly) .

I tend to go with the inexpensive plastic rad's because I don't keep cars longer than 10 years. So, the service life is good enough.

Yes, or even Griffin, Ron Davis, or C&R for that matter (IF they make a direct fit for one's app), but you WILL PAY DEARLY for ANY of the above (in either post), sometimes 6, 7, or 8 TIMES what the inexpensive OEM replacements run!!

(They may be worth it, but not everyone has that coin to put into a hunk of aluminum. There would be one of the above in my car as we speak if it were not for the prohibitive cost.

Around here your car will rust out before the second plastic tank rad starts leaking..

The radiator in our '98 Windstar is still original.. I've been waiting for it to start leaking on us since we bought it in early '07. It's getting dumped in a year, and I'll be happy to not replace it.

10 years does seem to be the average.

So the one from advance auto part ready rad is good enough ? Seem lie it had bad review.

Btw I check on ebay . Couple full aluminum with really good price . Any one ever bought one if eBay ?

Not me personally, but that is what I would buy.
