MotorTrend Magazines Two Year Test Review of a 2023 Tesla Model Y

I had seen this MT review previously.
The problem I have with it that the Model Y can't be any worse than the Model 3 from which it is derived, both models have strong owner loyalty and both are on the list of top twenty five models by sales in the US.
If the Model Y is really that bad, then why don't the punters just save themselves some money and buy an Accord or a Camry instead?
OTOH, the mag did buy this test car and did drive it for a considerable distance, so who knows?
It's the "in thing " to have. If you haven't seen the South Park episode all about "Smug" instead of smog that explains it all. I think alot of Model y/3 are the ex Prius crowd.

Then add in aren't they battery powered? So if the stalk batteries die your hosed.
From what I remember, the app. for the stalks notifies you if the battery is low on battery. This gives you enough time to replace it so that you are not suddenly caught with it being inoperable.

Yes, lotsa people buy things that are the in-thing, for show, you name it. Nobody needs a BroDozer. Porsche, MBZ, Corvette, you name it.
In my experience, the EV fits my use case very well. CA bought a lotta Prius, for gas mileage and the computer lane. The Tesla as well. I bought the 1st Model 3 for wifey; I did not even test drive it because I had had surgery. I have come to appreciate it in so many ways.

I suggest there are others like me who are on our 2nd Teslas based on our experience. I cannot see myself buying another ICE car, except for a pickup. Wifey prefers the RX450h F Sport over a Model Y, so there's that. I am not an SUV guy.

i believe the 2026 Model 3 is going back to the turn signal stalk. The new Model Y Juniper kept the stalk; it never used the buttons.
Tesla made a mistake with the buttons, IMO. While I am fine with them, some people just don't like them. 2nd, the left button (lower) sticks.

Get the S3XY Stalks. You won't be sorry. The other benefit is the interior led lights, which is huge IMO. I was never happy with the worthless Blind Spot red dot. The led lights are the best solution yet. Better than the typical rear view mirror.

Just my 2 cents.
Yes, the interior blind spot LED red dot is absolutely useless.

Interior LED, are you talking about the turning on/off of the interior cabin LED?

I’m a bit lost. Are you talking about the available S3XY Strip, or the factory wrap around LED strip?
Please see the video link I posted. The Commander makes use of the factory LED wrap around led bar.
I bought the Stalk kit, which includes the Commander module. I did not know about the Commander LED functionality. Love it.

What? It's the same thing everyone else does, but they place it in the mirror. On top of that it shows it on the screen. Useless though! 🙄

The one that lights up in the mirror is easy to spot. The one Tesla put in the interior, that tiny red dot is not easy to see.

You look in the mirror, and if the blind spot indicator is in the mirror, it is right within your immediate peripheral vision. The tiny red dot where Tesla placed the blind spot indicator is not. To you it may work. To some, like with me and JeffKeryk, it’s misplaced.

Looking in the screen for my blind spot is another unnecessary thing to do IMO. When I make really quick lane changes, I don’t even use the screen. The only time I use it for my blind spot is when I am only cruising along. Again it works for some, to me it does not.

My car has an orange LED on the inside aswell, and I like it. When I open the door I can still see the interior LED but not the mirror glass, and it warns me of traffic coming from behind.

it also beeps if there's a car in the blind spot and approaching when I turn on the indicator. so even if you don't pay attention it should still warn you.

What car do you drive?

I can see it. It beeps when it detects a vehicle in the blind spot too. I'm not saying it's perfect, but it works fine.

The included emoji -> 🙄 and the sarcastic tone of your initial reply to my opinion about the red dot LED indicator gave me the impression that you are invalidating my opinion since it differs from yours.

Good for you then. It’s useless to me, useful for you.

I'm not attacking you. I just don't see what the problem is.
