Model 3 Ludicrous latest rumors...

I don't think it's even that, the power to weight is excellent as you can see from the extremely high trap speeds the Plaid posts in the 1/4 mile. The handling and braking are just not up to par. Weight does have something to do with that, but BMW and Mercedes have cars over 4000 lbs that do similar laptimes and are much slower in a straight line.
Acceleration drops off a certain level too. They didn't do the Porsche 2 speed setup with the Plaid after the issues they had on the original Roadster blowing them out. Braking may be a limitation based on known information, but I don't think handling itself is. The copied from some of the best on suspension geometry and have historically over stiffened the suspension for the average driver. I don't mind it, but my wife seems less than impressed with the ride quality on the car. I can see how much of a monster in the curves even a base Model 3 could be with some upgraded tires.
