I phoned the 800# --the rep told me that the its a mixture of 90% group 3 and 10%PAO(MOBIL 1)--This was both formulas--the "newer"car 5w30 and the 10w -30 hi-mileage----for $2.42 a qt. at walmart-----how does this formula stack up the other synthetic blends and hi -mileage formulas?

I just bought 4 quarts of this stuff (all I could find) and I paid $2.18 for them. 2 of the bottles were the NASCAR sponsor lables, other 2 were white bottles with blue lables.

I've read on this board that it's Group I and Group 2 with 25% PAO. However I would *HOPE* the rep you talked to is right and knows what he's talking about.

I plan on using 3.5 quarts of it + 1 quart of Mobil 1 to do a change.

I think of all the blends available it would be the best for the $$.... considering you're getting 25% real synthetic vs. the usual Group III stuff in most other over the counter blends.

That's not possible is it?, maybe the Rep added Group 1 + Group 2 and thinks then it = a Group 3! If it is true, I'm going to mortgage the house and buy, buy, buy...

I agree and it might even be the best over the counter oil for some engines in performance vs cost period .It has been tweeked vs the blend it was in 2002 and that oil outperformed Mobil Supersyn in cost-performance in one motor here in back to back analysis's .

BTW , O'Reillys's , Autozones ect does the competitor price matching .

That oil is 2.08 here at Walmarts

I would think it's extremely unlikely that its 90% Group III. That would make no sense. Those Folks on the phone are not really technical reps in the true sense of the word. They are customer relations folks for the "Joe Six-Packs". There is a Mobil 1 technical service number perhaps someone has it-I can't locate it.

Ran it about 5000 miles in my 97 3.8 Bonneville. I have 150,000 on the car and I got over 4000 before I had to add a quart of oil but I did not care for the oil pressure which was about 40 lbs at freeway speeds. I am thinking about trying it again but at 4 qts of the blend with 1 qt of a 10-40 and see what happens. Currenttly using 4 qts of valovline 10-40 and one qt of synthetic valvoline with better oil pressure.

The white bottles appear to be the newer stock. I saw it priced at $2.19 a quart.

Who can verify how much group 3 is in it?

DOC ,

Which wt did you use ? They have four oils in this line-up and two of them are 5w30's .
Mobil

No wonder it's sometimes hard to find . Thats alot of shelf space .

I used 10/30. I am in So calif and work in the desert where summer temps get very hot. Our winter temps are only in the 40-50's range most winter days for a low. So I have never tried the light weight oils. GM recommended for my driving is 10/30.

I called XOM today (I'm off) and they did confirm that the Synthetic Blends are Grp III with a bit of PAO. Now compare this to Pennzoil/Castrol/Quakerstate's Fully synthetic oils cost, which are grp III, and it's a huge bargain. PepBoys had Mobil Drive Clean synthetic blend 5w/10w-30 and 10w-40 for $2.79qt.

Yep but ya know what , no-one here will ever believe it .

Mobil did a press release
 -
telling how the Drive Clean High Mileage Blend actually cleaned a test engine over time, how the oil was run to 10k miles in another engine and still a large percent on this oil boat runs in denial .

You know , the river in Egypt

I used to use this stuff, but switched when this board convinced me that Drive Clean Blend was overpriced and no better than Pennzoil or Chevron Dino.

And just how did they do that with only one UOA of the blend posted ?

See what I mean ?

The starting TBN of over 9 should tell something .

So the Mobil DC+ oils that are on the shelf now are Group III/IV? We won't have to wait for the GF-4 spec Mobil DC+ oils to get Group III/IV that "carpy" was referring to?

Lets put up a few UOA's of that Motorcraft before jumping to a conclusion.I bit on it too and picked up 5 qts of MC 5w30 synthetic blend.I may find a place for it this winter in my Nissan 2.4 Hardbody truck.

Correction: , he said Grp III. I don't think he said PAO with it. My fault. Now no one will believe it.

Does it have any PAO?
