I might read some of that later. I think it just states whats obvious to engineers: Split the fluid path, one goes into the main media, & the other goes into a microfilter disc or frisbee mat of fibers. Not rocket science. Some oil gets filtered on each pass, and after a while it gets around to all the fluid. Easy concept.

This is a drawing of a Wix patent from 1969 I got from your links. There are so many it would take a long time to read it all. One thing, they were very smart people back in the day. The zoom makes it easy to see the parallel path design.

Your typical useless snarkiness doesn't get anybody closer to the truth about the effectiveness of the MG cartridge filters.

As I've said, its clear the spongy sock foam over the cartridge filter is turning black on used filters, catching some dirt. It would depend on the shape and the tackiness of the polymer material how much it catches and holds. As I've also said, its an open question as to how much it catches. Data is needed there. So now try to snark up these forums some more. You're a nuisance troll most of the time.

Those are the patent numbers listed on the side of the MicroGreen oil filter boxes. You can click on the links as well as any of us, so do that yourself.

Thank you I didn't know what was on the package exactly. And yes, I did read the patents in the links.

The failure of that sock as shown in the pictures is inexcusable. There is no justification for such a design which clearly was never tested properly.

What exactly have I said or asked in this thread that is incorrect or not pertinent to the discussion that makes you label me as a troll? Have I made any technically incorrect statements?

If you are somehow suggesting that the sag is either acceptable or somehow a design feature then that is just downright silly. What if Fram or Wix produced a filter that had the same sock and it sagged as shown in the picture? No way that would be acceptable nor somehow labeled as a feature of the design.

Fram idea back in 1955.

I saw that as well.

Ive seen a Toyota filter in a picture once that had two distinct elements inside it in about a 2/3 1/3 ratio.

Whole thing was in Japanese so aside from the logo on the accompanying white board I couldn't glean much from it, (just like when an employee handed me a 2K bill from a gentlemans establishment in Tokyo) but I would not be surprised to see a more companies come out with 2 stage designs of some ilk soon.
