List Of The Oldest Touring Bands

Duran Duran-1978
We saw them in August and they sound great!
Other than Andy Taylor, four of the five members from the early days of MTV are still out there putting out great music and putting on a great show.
Unfortunately, Andy Taylor is battling stage 4 prostate cancer, the odds of seeing him play with them again is not great.

The Who are still going strong and sound pretty good with Zak Starkey on drums and Pete Townshend’s brother Simon on guitar. Zak is the god son of Keith Moon and son of Ringo Starr. The Who have a small orchestra playing with them also which adds depth to some of their songs.

Still going strong sounds a bit iffy t me. It's like the guy falling from the 12th floor and asking him how he's doing at the 3rd floor: "so far so good".

Enjoy them while you can, before they reach ground floor!

Golden Earring.
They were formed in 1961 by 13-year-old George Kooymans and his 15-year-old neighbor, Rinus Gerritsen. They did major stadium tours with the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Procol Harum, and Eric Clapton. They finally stopped touring in 2021 following the diagnosis of Kooymans with ALS. I saw them in the mid 70s.

Bruce Springsteen and the E street band toured back in 1972. Tour set for next year. Three hour+ long concerts is still his norm. Incredible live.

If only half of the members is the criteria for still performing, then the Righteous brothers have been performing since the very early 1960’s. Casinos mostly.

Maybe Bob Dylan since the early 1960’s for a lone act but he may have finally stopped performing. If you could call what he has been doing for the last 10 years or so performing.

Lita Ford
Joan Jett
Heart, Ann Wilson, and Nancy Wilson
Chrissie Hynde, The Pretenders
Belinda Carlisle

The 60s era Golden Earring (The Golden Earrings) are one of my favorite groups. I have original pressings of all their lps from 65-69.
