The light bulb is keeping the valve train warm, but it's really not doing anything to keep the oil in the sump warm. If you definately see a difference just due to the light bulb, then that's a hint to the root cause.
I'm thinking it's a mechanical clearance issue that's affected by temperature. Is the valve clearance adjustable on this dngine, or does it really have hydraulic components in the valve train to keep the proper clearance?
