Was always told to avoid LG everything. Got a set here in a vacation rental and I noticed both say 10 year warranty on the front of the machines which we know how warranties are. But new to me.
Here they are..

Hate my LG washer. Gets this awful scrud buildup every 6 months and I have to take it apart and pressure wash it. Asked on other forums, called the dealer I bought it from, no one has a solution. Always use deep fill and extra rinse, no fabric softener, clean and clear detergent etc, hot loads, nothing keeps it away. And the power button is messed up, also have to take that apart every 6 months to put a new piece of aluminum foil behind it. Complete piece of garbage. And it's only 4 years old.

Yup, love our LG Washer and Dryer. 10 years on the motor.
Same with our LG refrigerator, 10 years (part) on the compressor 5years labor). GE refrigerators is 1 year.

Sometimes people need to do their own analysis of equipment they buy, critical thinking is needed on any modern day device. IN the case of LG refrigerators, yeah, a bad few year run of a design issue. That is fixed though. Stuff like that still happens to this day on the automobile you drive. SO you can buy their beautiful appliances in the case of refrigerator with 10 year compressor warranty or get a GE with 1 year.

Bottom line, for me, I expect to replace modern appliances every 10 to 12 years or so.

I am on year 16 with my LG front loader and still going strong. The solution to your crud and mold buildup can be found in my Post #8 in this recent BITOG thread. Sorry, but I can't help you with the power button issue.

You should also deep clean it on the tub clean cycle with Whirlout from Home Depot before switching away from liquid HE detergents. Whirlout will remove the oily crud that is only masked by the other products marketed as washing machine cleaners like Affresh tablets.

That's nasty...

LG front loaders (front loaders in general) are easy to repair - they are quite simple devices with a couple of pumps, a few valves and a motor. The most expensive repair with me was when an electrical surge fried the control board. I have since used surge protectors for the washers.

I see that a lot and wonder why. I would assume that if I got those as any house purchase that they will need to be replaced pretty quickly.
No doubt they get a great package deal...cheap!

Tell me about it, LOL

Interesting point - mines a top load, but I'll have to try the powdered detergent!

Have you had your water tested? That looks like you are brewing tea in the washer!
Never had it tested - no signs of bad water anywhere else, its city water and they just put in a nice new well a couple years ago.

Have a set like that in SS that are 15+ years old...have lived through 6 dogs and 2 kids growing up. They are still running, list of repairs below.
- replaced all drum rollers on the dryer. Only one rear one was locked up but I replaced them all as it was a repair kit. This repair was a PITA, by the time you get everything apart that you need to get to the rollers the machine is just a pile of parts, full disassembly for like 50 bucks in parts.
- replaced control board for the dryer, dryer would run any time door was shut. New board fixed it.
- replaced door seal on washer (another massive PITA repair) do yourself a favor and buy the special tool for the locking wire for the seal if you ever have to do this.

I'll be trying that. Our maytag top loader washer always stinks too. I get tired of running the clean cycle with every product I can find to get rid of it temporarily
