So, I now have a task that specifically calls for printing front and back. I'm looking for something reasonably priced that you've used and can recommend. I need to print several "books" of maybe 200-300 pages each and inkjet won't work. The ink needs to be somewhat moisture resistant.

I'm open to buying used or refurbished on ebay, new is ok too. I'd like to keep it under $300. I don't know if there is such a printer, but you guys seem to always know, well, pretty much anything,

so I thought I would ask. Thanks

I recently got a Canon MF4370dn for my office. It's a laser printer/scanner/copier/fax combo that prints on both sides. It also has a network interface, so you can plug it into your router and have all other home computers print on it.

It's about $250 on line.

The problem is that once a typical copy paper goes twice through a hot laser printer drum it curls up a little, but I don't think you'll be able to avoid it with any other low-priced laser printer out there. Using slightly thicker paper might help a bit.

A few months back, I picked up a HP P3005DN that has a 500 sheet tray, duplex, and network. It's normally a $900 printer but HP had a $450 mail-in rebate going at the time. I found a mail order supplier that had them on sale for $600 and the rebate still applied. I got the printer for basically $150 plus shipping! The replacement toner cartridges cost more than that! Check the HP website frequently. Maybe they will have another good rebate in the works. I was looking at the HP2015DN printer prior to buying this one. Probably prints just as well, but a little slower and has a smaller paper tray. Whatever brands you decide on, check replacement toner costs too. Just like the inkjets, the real cost is in the ink, not the printer.

The guy I got the idea from to get a duplexing laser printer has an older model and he refills his toner. Says it can be a bit of a pain and potentially messy but VERY inexpensive. He said you could refill one 6-10 times before it wore out.
