I ran PYB 5w20 for two months during this cold snowy winter here in Maryland. I just dropped it after 5k and replaced it with QS HP Syn 5w30. Lets see how this oil holds up for 6K.

I just dropped my pants.........

In my Conversion Van, I kicked Valvoline to the curb and replaced her with Amsoil. My Sequioa will be departing with Mobil 1 to Redline shortly

I agree! What a step backwards! Grp V to what a grp III mix?

I dropped M1 0W-40 and like you, switched to QS HP 5w30.

When I had the M1, I figured that if it was good enough for Mercedes, it was good enough for me. WRONG. It may have been good enough for Mercedes and for me, but my car did not like it. It does like the QS HP 5w30.

I just dropped PYB for Valvoline conventional. Because I can't make up my mind now as to which dino I want to use. This forum has made me insane...LOL In a good way... I like them all.
Still can't pull myself to use synthetic....probably never will. Conventional is too good. Pluse I don't drive anything special.

If you pay full retail prices for your oils, then conventional oil is very good for up to 6-7k miles OCI's for most engines. But if you can get synthetic oil for less than $2/qt (after rebate), then it is much better than conventional oil with the same OCI's. I have several cases of Synpower I bought a year or two ago for less than $0.49/qt, there is no conventional oil costs that little and better.

I just dropped $100 for a mint leather interior, transfer case, and working transmission to replace my bad one in my explorer.

I also dropped a couple of runs on Valvoline Maxlife in my Stratus to Pennzoil Platinum. Why run a blend when it doesn't consume or leak? Might aswell take advantage of the long OCI's with synthetic.

Explorer might be dropping Maxlife as well and be Switching to PP as well.

Stratus might drop PP and switch to Ultra or AMSOIL in the future.

New Yorker is happy where it is.

I'm just like you, I never use synthetic oil but after running across the Val Synthetic oil a couple weeks ago for $13 (I use Mobil 5k $11) I felt it was a no brainer to go with synthetic for two oci's. I'm going to push this syn to 7.5k so after 15k, I'll go back to my dino that I normally use.
