JD D140 with 22 Hp Briggs 121.1 hours

Did a tune up with oil and filter change as well as plugs and fuel filter and air filter.

Ran like new money as usual for a week on nonethanol then it started sputtering at full throttle which led to a rough idle with no full throttle. Took the carb apart today and it was clean as a whistle put it back in and now it’s worse. Almost won’t idle at all with smoke coming from exhaust. Took back apart to insure no missing seals Or introduced debris and it was still immaculate.

Replace carb?

Long shot ----

Does your carb have two needle valves /jets ?

I had one engine run like crap - nothing I did solved the problem -

Took it to a shop, the guy knew right away I had switched the two needle valves - they looked the same to me but they were not -

He switched them and the engine ran perfect.

Engine numbers. I need the engine numbers so I can look at the correct parts drawing so I can analyze the situation.

You guys don't realize that Briggs & Stratton has about 500 variations of engines and they're all different.
