It's in good shape all in all. I get it isn't rusted beyond surface level like the roof. Someone could save that as body work and rust is what kills the viability of these projects.

Rat Rod ready....
No scrap here.
Exactly. Wow, that's a perfect choice to pressure wash inside and out, put a fresh interior in, and a healthy drivetrain/suspension. Preserving the body in a clean, but almost "as is" condition. I would probably prep the rust though.

All the parts are still available.

I would even keep the straight six! That's unique!!!!

Body looks decent as far as rust-through and dents. If the frame is solid that car is definitely worth repairing or even restoring. My own preference is original, but the sky's the limit for a '55 Chevy for resto modding or hot rodding.

Isn't that interesting. A low spec version of a good year, in a common but less popular body style. These were $200 - $300 cars when I was a young guy. And we would have looked for a BelAire 2 door hardtop V8 which might have been $500 (and as much as $700 for a real beauty).

But times change. Seems they're worth folding money today.

If it's rust free underneath I think you could make this into something interesting.

4 door, hate to see what the floorboards look like, would have to be acid dipped, hope you have deep pockets, in other words, No. ;)

Around here in South Florida, our old cars are fairly rust-free and will easily last 40 or 50 years if cared for. Not as clean as Cali or AZ, but not bad. So mildly rusted rat rods are very popular here. I've even seen where the car is simply sanded down, as if it were being prepped for a quickie paint job, the rust primered, and left that way.

I'd say that car makes an ideal candidate.

You could drag it this direction in that condition with forsale written in the gunk on the window and have it sold for a good chunk of money before you got to Iowa. Or there are guys on you tube that would come to you, get it running and drive it away.

Would love a basic vintage driver for running around town. I'd get the roof painted and the rest will buff out. The bottoms of the doors and fenders look perfect. If the underneath is just as nice, $1500-$2000 as a non-runner.
