I thought this was an interesting take on the ethanol thing. I would still like to see some good research about whether ethanol really does lower greenhouse gasses or not. Takes energy to produce ethanol, cars burn more ethanol to go the same distance as gas, etc. I want to see real science not junk science and scare tactic kneejerk reactions. Only REAL science will solve problems.

It only takes common sense to understand that using Ethanol will increase greenhouse gasses bc it consumes far more energy to produce than it yields.

Its basically a way for politicians to dole out money to companies to get re-elected.

Ethanol is a poor oxygenate and takes more energy to produce than it saves. But it appeases the green lobby and the farm lobby and is a fabulous excuse for politicians to drop pork where it suits them.

I agree. What's really scary are all the people who are clueless to the effect of ethanol production on other commodities. I'm sure we've all met these same people (our friends) who have this short-sighted view on flex fuels, not to mention E10. These are the same people to whom our politicians are pandering, even though the politicians may otherwise know better.
