We saw Gov't Mule on Saturday night. Warren Haynes' encore was a 15 minute Sugaree jam session. Amazing.

No, but get this, my wife found a folder from 3rd grade. One of his teachers made him a sticker with a VW bus and it says, “Greatful Dead.” I told my wife, that’s not spelled right!

Another oddity. I always ask him who’s singing, and he usually gets Jerry or Bobby 100%.
The tune escapes me but Bobby was singing circa ‘72. So when I asked him who’s singing, he goes, Jerry? Nope. John Mayer? Nope. Brent? Nope. Pigpen? I nearly lost control of the car. No lie, I’ve never mentioned Pig to him!
I was never much of a Dead fan until at 18 I saw them in a gymnasium in 1977

I was watching a July 1989 YouTube, and Bobby blew the intro chorus not 1,2, but 3 times. Their imperfections made them great, if that makes any sense. And only this year did I catch the Leslie speaker that was spinning behind Phil, for Brent’s B3…
There is a fountain not made by the hands of man........

There are so many tunes I can no longer play on guitar—Box of Rain for example. They’d come back quickly with practice. But this one and Friend of the Devil, I could likely play even if my hands were broken or had arthritis!

Met Jerry Garcia once at a gas station in Nowhere Utah on a hot July afternoon long ago. I was riding my motorcycle going west with a couple of guys. Offered him a ride. He thanked me and declined, already had one all the way to San Francisco. Honestly I didn't know who he was 'till later.

Phil sings Box of Rain.
I was in Vegas a few years ago at an off-Strip casino called SouthPoint playing $1 roulette just for fun and an older guy with long shaggy hair and a couple friends comes over to check it out. I did a double-take. It was Phil.
Probably Fire on the Mountain is my current favorite
