My most recent purchases: 2007 Maxima $2000, drove it for over two years (May 2019 - November 2021) then sold it for $3400.
2012 Legacy $2000, my current daily driver since January 2022. 2016 Santa Fe $5000 (on standby). I overpaid for this one, so I might sell it. It requires the least amount of work out of all 3, just rear brakes.

1.8L from ‘11-16 are known to have piston slap and chain issues.

The non-Turbo Theta-ii engines are also affected. Not sure at what rate though.

It is my understanding that the 2017 and 2018 2.0l engines weren’t in the known series of engines failures prior and post those years. At least for the Elantra and that engine size.

Sold today for $3500. Engine had a miss and some rod knock when rev'd. Front bumper damaged. No thanks. My Impreza was a steal in comparison.
