Gas in the Oil

My wife's Renault 1.2 turbo engine (Kadjar 1.2 Tce Energy) had 2000 miles after 6 months. Strange, but the oil level getting to be increased on the dipstick - approx. 1 inch above the max mark + it had strong gasoline smell.

The dealership has upated the injector software free of charge - there was some incorrect setting. Now the gas consumption much better and the oil level getting to be lower + less smell of fuel.

The dealership explained: Renault doesn't recommend to change the fuel diluted oil, because the volatile gasoline will be evaporated at operating temperature.

My question: do I change the oil or do I trust in the manufacturer's recommendation?

Wow, if the dipstick level went up by an inch due to fuel dilution, that's a lot of fuel. No way I would run an engine with that much fuel in the oil, hoping it would burn off.

Renault probably said there was no issue with diluted oil because they didn't want to pay for the new oil as part of the fix for the problem they caused.

I suspect that your oil may be a lot more expensive than what I can buy at Walmart in the US, but I'd sure want to change out heavily diluted oil as soon as possible...I'd say there's no way it's doing your engine any GOOD, that's for sure!

Gasoline has many compounds some of which have surpringly high evaporating points, so once fuel contaminates engine oil part of the damage persists. I would change it, especially given the severity of the dilution.

ELF EVOL 900 SXR 5W-40 is the OEM oil takes 28 bucks per 5 quarts.
Thx for the great advices!

I wouldn't trust that dealer's advice. I once had fuel dilution (about 1964 Ford Falcon) and was standing with the hood open when my then-girlfriend started the vehicle. This was probably in 1970. I heard a boom from the vehicle and come to find out a week later that the dipstick shot out when that explosion occurred.

I never recovered that dipstick.

The estimated volume is between 0.5 and 1.0 quart in 4.6 quarts = approx. 11-21%.

Additional 1 strict rule was given by Renault: absolutely no - means: NEVER - heat up the car after ignition at any cold morning, just get started at moderate speed and rev (between 2000-3000).
All my cars in the past heated up by idling for 1-5 mins before driving.
Am I wrong?

You need to get your fuel system checked for leaky injectors. No type of short trip driving is going to put that much gas in the oil.

I don't think that's bad advice from Renault, but it sounds to me like they're not confident that they fixed the injector problem with the software update.

That volume of gas in the oil that you mentioned in your other post is horrifying, I would change that oil immediately! I wonder if the recommendation to not change the oil REALLY came from Renault...

Direct injection, get used to it.

Don't count on it.

That's insane, 1 inch of fuel in oil... that's like quart of dilution. I bet that would be one crazy Blackstone Labs sample. Definitely change that oil - the PPM in that oil are most likely off the charts lol.
