Another one ? A little info here in a second. Mostly a short test to see what the HPL oil was doing when it was well before due to be actually changed...

Date code is A30322.

Here it is in a small pool of the oil it came out of.

That oil you are seeing is HPL No VII PCMO 5W-30.

691 miles on the oil and this filter, just so we can get an idea of what it is doing.

Some knock a 6607 for its small size.. but it is a Fram Ultra . Should have superior dirt holding capability.. The first thing I notice is a rather large Orange (and thereby Silicone by default?) ADBV.

Now let's cut it open.

No cardboard!

I like this filter... Should I go the extra mile and try to pop out that media in the center of the can (have not really figured out the best way to do so) or is this good? And how loaded up does the media look to you?

NOW I can go eat breakfast. First, my animals. Then, my vehicles, and their oil and mechanical needs. Now time to lubricate myself and Cheerios. How's the filter looking?

Darn no shots of inside the can🤬🤬🤬

I’d say everything looks good. I have almost 8,400 on HPL no VII 5w20/M1 0w40 old label design 😍😍

If you look at the 4th pic close you can see it is a spiral design also.

How much crud do you see.. is that about good for ~700 miles with HPL in an engine that has a hard life

I meant inside end of filter canister. All in all it looks good. Thank You for pictures 👍🍻

The filter does appear to have some loading but without seeing it in person I'm not for sure on this one. It could've probably went further but it was wise to take a peek at everything to see how it was loading up. The oil does look a bit dark for 600 miles so appears to be cleaning some things up. You put a Super Tech filter back on? When do you plan on replacing this new oil & filter?

Well. Interesting story but I no longer have the Fumoto valve on my oil pan. Thankfully they can be replaced for not much money I think about $25. Long story short if someone ended up taking it off and I had to put oil back in the car . ...... Now the reason that I mentioned that is because I've always said that I would change my oil to fresh oil right there in the parking lot of HPL and not leave a drop on the ground using my fumoto valve... and it IS easier to change oil with it so I feel like I will be getting another one..... Yes I put a super check filter back on because not only are those not bad filters but that will be the one that's on the car when I actually show up to the HP L event. I have enough filters to last this car about 20000 miles at least so I'm letting different filters do their filtration thing.

I changed the filter when I ended up refilling the oil because obviously this all happens when parked. So I'm going to be taking advantage of whatever discounts are offered to the event goal worth because now I'm out of HPL oil again. Maybe I will go to the Euro...

I say all that to say that I'm not exactly sure that I'm going to be changing the oil at the HPL event anymore because I just couldn't wait I'm put it in a month and a 1/2 early. So the mileage on the car is 258 and change.... I'm thinking of pushing the oil change in this sump out to about 265. Possibly changing the filter at the midway mark around 262 or 263.

Would you like me to try to use a screwdriver and pry up the paper media off of the can? Or not necessary because it's so tiny and appears like that could be difficult lol

tl;dr - Pushing the OCI out to ~265k miles
Possible mid-way filter change. Maybe maybe not.

You just can't beat a Fumoto valve. I have one on the F350 w/the plastic lever clip to prevent any movement on the lever. The ST filter was a good choice for cleaning up an engine in my opinion b/c of it's efficiency rating it may survive longer under loading conditions being 99%@30 vs 99%@20 on the ultra & the price is usually right too. You'll figure out the details on when & where to reload the cars oiling system. Thanks for the response.

Doesn’t look bad. Thanks for bottom of can picture 👍🍻🇺🇸

Wrap one of those media strips in paper towels for a couple day so it wicks the oil out. I wanna see if flavor also gets the crud chunks out

Flavor ?? Not following?

I also have some pics of how the whole actual bottom of the engine looks after the ~700 miles on the HPL oil.. but this thread is about the filter. If anyone wants to see the oil pick-up tube, pan when removed, engine underside etc (again, after 700 miles on HPL No VII 5W-30 PCMO..) Message, and I'll oblige.

OK so @Yourhomiematt I'm getting the media off and letting it lay In paper towel, pressure applied to or ? Please explain, I'm still stuck on how hard it is to pop the paper media off the can. It mushes when pressed with screwdriver. Please direct me.

Paper towel wicking trick. Been doing it for years. Make it many layers thick. Swap out the paper towels a few times. Will take a few days to dry out the media.

And this is just Day 1 (yesterday...)

Yeah at least 3.5 quarts of the HPL out of a 4.5 quart sump made it back in after the oil pan re-seal. About to go for a drive.

This HPL stuff is truly awesome, maybe I'll make a testimonial for @High Performance Lubricants at the event. Maybe.

Looks like some of the pickup screen is blocked in the upper RH side where there's a shadow. Pickup screens can be somewhat restrictive, and easy to see that in super cold weather that very thick oil may have issues flowing well through it to get to the pump.
You're right it does look like some junk there. It follows the shadow perfectly which is strange but the shadow may balance out the lighting to show the debris.

Should I post the oil pan, bottom of engine etc? 152k unknown history miles ?

I've been looking more closely at pictures of the oil pick-up screen and I too wonder if there is even a way they could make it less restrictive . But I have pics of the whole bottom side of the engine . I only apologize that I don't have a point of reference before these pictures to show cleaning, and, to be fair, ~700 miles really isn't a whole lot of time to clean.. (We got here by a LARGE oil leak, and wasn't the fault of the oil. Pan had to be re-sealed since bolts loosened up. That's what happened.)

So if you all are wanting to see pics, or at least some.. and we keep the discussion about the oil..

EDIT: I reviewed the pictures and I think we can handle it.

So, behind and besides your oil filter, you have your whole lubrication system.. Here are 10 pics of the dropped oil pan, and underside of engine. There are 2 more. (Same oil/filter set-up as described.)

I only wish I knew the history of this engine. I don’t. I only know it has about 152k miles on it and obviously pan has never been dropped. Pics taken before tech re-sealed the pan.. Permatex Ultra Grey was used.. and new bolts....
