The filter pictured was made in China and the new one is made in Brazil. There were no tears and the media felt plenty strong like the new one that went in.

The new one I put in looked identical in construction. The only difference was how they applied the information on the plastic end cap. The made in China one had it molded into the end cap, the made in Brazil filter had it ink jet printed.

It would be interesting to know if they changed the point of manufacturing or if they tool the same sku in multiple plants.

I agree with you, I thought the filter looked great. Tough Guards are an excellent filter.
