If you want to look at Purolator and Fram filters as a low/mid/high range option, you would be comparing the TG to the P1. Apples to oranges because:

P1 end and are constructed of metal, TG are not.

P1 has better efficiency, TG does not.

P1 has a completely different bypass system. TG uses a plastic spring loaded whatchamacallit

The only thing they remotely have in common is the grip tape finish, and even that isn't the same

Stop lying to each other with labeling this as a "comparetive" thread. Nothing could be father from the truth.

But as always, YMMV and Purolator is evil and Fram is the best and yada yada yada

Fram filters are garbage except for the top of the line one- Ultra Xtended Guard. Yes I know someone is going to say "Purolator's tear though!" I have never had that problem. Only problem I did have once is that one of the metal end caps came unglued from the media

X3. What they said. At least a couple people here can see without their orange tinted glasses.

I'm not that crazy about the FRAM Extra Guard (orange filter) myself either. Some EG filter part #'s appear to be better than others, but if I'm going to run a FRAM, I think I will just pick the Ultra filter for obvious reasons.
