Fram TG better than Purolator equivalent

Even if you could trust the Purolator quality, I'm thinking that the Fram TG is a better buy than the Purolator PureOne / Bosch Premium.

With 99% filtering efficiency and a 10,000 mile guarantee, I think it's a better buy on just the performance claims.

The P1 does have that awesome textured grip though

Otherwise, I'd rather use Wix over either of the above.

Kmart does occasionally have a sale on their filters, making the P1 a better buy than the TG.

The Fram TG has a textured grip, just not on the entire can (which helps to prevent overspray as well).

And WIX have nowhere near the filtering efficiency.

I would agree with your conclusion and say you're correct about the TG being superior.

That was my original plan. But I'm wondering how many oci's I feel comfortable leaving a filter on.

If I used an XG, it would be on for 3 years and 15k to 20k miles.

If I used a TG, it would be 2 years and 10k to 14k miles.

I think 10,000 miles is plenty long enough to leave it on even though it's rated for 15,000. If it looks flawless cut open at 10,000 - then maybe go 15,000 next time.

1 OCI.
Remember, "One Filter, One OCI!"

You are funny about this. Yet strident. I have to say I respect that. Though I disagree with you on this point.

This is a ridiculous thread. There is no Purolator equivalent to a tough gaurd so you all are just comparing apples to oranges in yet another "let's all get off to how awesome Fram is" thread.

If you want to look at Purolator and Fram filters as a low/mid/high range option, you would be comparing the TG to the P1. Apples to oranges because:

P1 end and are constructed of metal, TG are not.

P1 has better efficiency, TG does not.

P1 has a completely different bypass system. TG uses a plastic spring loaded whatchamacallit

The only thing they remotely have in common is the grip tape finish, and even that isn't the same

Stop lying to each other with labeling this as a "comparetive" thread. Nothing could be father from the truth.

But as always, YMMV and Purolator is evil and Fram is the best and yada yada yada

Only a 3750 OCI? Is that for "sever duty"?

I know for a fact that there are MANY people on this site who use only 1 oil filter per interval... But that interval is 10k, 12k 15k miles. So BlueOvalFitter is NOT "hurting the environment" as you claim. I'm not trying to give you a hard time. I promise. Just more information to help out a bit. Plus ...I believe he uses his filters at minimum 7500 miles maybe more. One oil change and filter change for him is not hurting anything.

I understand your point. But more information is needed to make a stronger point.
Though I use my own filters for more than one oil change too
