I run 5W30 ACEA C3+VW504/507 nearly everywhere there's a DPF/GPF. I run A3/B4 elsewhere, or the same C3 depending on the circumstances.
Those engines are essentially PSA (Peugeot/Citroën/DS) DW10 blocks with different peripherals and control units. PSA specifies 0W30 ACEA C2 2021+PSA B71 2312 oils, while Ford goes for A5/B5+913D. You can run C3 oils safely 10000 kilometers OCI.
A5/B5 are fuel economy oils.If there’s no dpf feel free to use a5b5 or a3b4 or c3 will be just as good. A5b5 or A3b4 are roughly equivalent to the older vw 502/505 spec.
If there’s a dpf stick to c3 if a3b4 or c2 if a5b5. Preferably a3b4 or c3 if your car is on a ford / psa duratorq diesel engine
The 2.0 tdci is a PSA engine, not a Ford engine. This full saps oil is not available locally where I am. My car has a DPF.
Will M1 5w30 Esp be a better alternative although it's a mid/low saps oil?
Are there any special abilities of the Ford
required 913c oils for timing belt?
I know. A3B4 will work just fine in this engine is what I meant - as long as there’s no DPFA5/B5 are fuel economy oils.
Not like A3/B4
Where is “here”, and what is “low cost”? Interested in the “(ESP) is readily available here for low cost”… since it’s not really either in the U.S.Thanks for your replies, folks! I'm likely going to go with M1 5w30 ESP, as it's readily available here for low cost..and it's low in sulphated ash for the DPF.
Which is funny because when Ford introduced Euro6 cars in India, they switched from 5w30 A5B5 / 913C/D to ACEA C2 0w20WSS-M2C-913C or D are heavily based on ACEA A5/B5. They are full SAPS oils which Ford specified for many years on their diesel engines equipped with DPF's and from what I saw, had no real detriment on the DPF itself.
Any ACEA A5/B5 *w30 would do. However, I'd look for something a bit thicker, maybe an A3/B4 or C3 oil instead.
My current go-to is Fuchs titan GT1 XTL Flex 3 5w40. It's a 5w40 ACEA C3 oil with a ton of manufacturer approvals. Can be picked up very cheap too!
WrongI know. A3B4 will work just fine in this engine is what I meant - as long as there’s no DPF
Wrong
It needs A5/B5, always has done

Yeah. And funnily enough, api ck4 (or for an older non dpf ford tdci, even an old school ci4+) works just fine. I’m running 15w40 castrol crb turbomax (synblend ck4) on my endeavour (ranger with a suv body, 3.2 liter 5 cylinder diesel) and in fact the engine seems to love it.'Needs' is a stretch.
If an A5/B5 lube is specified, then an A3/B4 lube will do just as well, if not better under high load situations.
Ford have always specced A5/B5 for their diesel engines.'Needs' is a stretch.

That might have changed in the last few years but was the case in 2014.
5w30 A5/B5
How many Ford diesels or PSA diesels have you owned?
In your opinion
In Ford opinion it’s 5w30 A5/B5 or the Ford 913 spec
When have Ford ever specced A3/B4 ?
My 2005 2.0 TDCi Mondeo (older camchain engine) was 5w30 A5/B5
My 2008 Volvo V50 with the Ford/PSA 2.0 diesel was 5w30 A5/B5
I think some people are confusing their opinion with facts.
What does your 3.2 5 cylinder diesel have to do with the 2.0 TDCi?
Absolutely nothing would be the answer.
That’s like me suggesting the OP should run an oil that I used to put in my no turbo 1.8D Fiesta in 1994.
2006 Mondeo 2.2TDCi
2008 Mondeo 1.8TDCi
2014 Mondeo 1.6TDCi
2015 Focus 1.5TDCi
2016 Focus 1.5TDCi
Plus I've maintained a number of families diesel Ford, all with the 'DV' engines.
A5/B5 is a fuel economy version of A3/B4. It is not a downgrade in any way. In fact most of us consider it to be an upgrade. Thicker oils generally protect better.
So all oils are versions of each other then?2006 Mondeo 2.2TDCi

The 3.2 litre 5 cylinder engine is from the Puma line of engines. Essentially the same engine your 2005 Mondeo would have had with an extra cylinder lumped on the end.
