Ford 913C/D alternative for 2.0 '13 TDCI Focus

This full saps oil is not available locally where I am. My car has a DPF.
Will M1 5w30 Esp be a better alternative although it's a mid/low saps oil?
Are there any special abilities of the Ford
required 913c oils for timing belt?
 
913c/d is mid saps, roughly equivalent to ACEA A5/B5 of which there will be several variants available. If you want even better, just go to ACEA C3 (or ACEA A3/B4). All these are quite robust Euro specs, so pick the one that matches your price + performance criteria.

Castrol Edge Euro 5w30 should do you just fine.
 
I run 5W30 ACEA C3+VW504/507 nearly everywhere there's a DPF/GPF. I run A3/B4 elsewhere, or the same C3 depending on the circumstances.

Those engines are essentially PSA (Peugeot/Citroën/DS) DW10 blocks with different peripherals and control units. PSA specifies 0W30 ACEA C2 2021+PSA B71 2312 oils, while Ford goes for A5/B5+913D. You can run C3 oils safely 10000 kilometers OCI.

WSS-M2C-913C or D are heavily based on ACEA A5/B5. They are full SAPS oils which Ford specified for many years on their diesel engines equipped with DPF's and from what I saw, had no real detriment on the DPF itself.

Any ACEA A5/B5 *w30 would do. However, I'd look for something a bit thicker, maybe an A3/B4 or C3 oil instead.

My current go-to is Fuchs titan GT1 XTL Flex 3 5w40. It's a 5w40 ACEA C3 oil with a ton of manufacturer approvals. Can be picked up very cheap too!

The 2.0 tdci is a PSA engine, not a Ford engine.

Use A5/B5 5w30

Mobil Super 3000 Formula FE is all you need.

Used that for years in my 2008 Volvo V50 2.0d and in my previous 2005 Ford Mondeo 2.0 tdci, which had the previous 2.0 chain driven engine.

Both vehicles did the thick end of 200k with nothing but regular oil and filter changes
 
Thanks for your replies, folks! I'm likely going to go with M1 5w30 ESP, as it's readily available here for low cost..and it's low in sulphated ash for the DPF.

Where is “here”, and what is “low cost”? Interested in the “(ESP) is readily available here for low cost”… since it’s not really either in the U.S.

Which is funny because when Ford introduced Euro6 cars in India, they switched from 5w30 A5B5 / 913C/D to ACEA C2 0w20

I had a 2015 Focus 1.5TDCi which was Euro 6 that specified WSS-M2C-913D (5w30 A5/B5) and then a 2016 Focus 1.5TDCi that specified WSS-M2C950-A (0w30 C2) despite there being no differences between them at all.

If an A5/B5 lube is specified, then an A3/B4 lube will do just as well, if not better under high load situations.
Yeah. And funnily enough, api ck4 (or for an older non dpf ford tdci, even an old school ci4+) works just fine. I’m running 15w40 castrol crb turbomax (synblend ck4) on my endeavour (ranger with a suv body, 3.2 liter 5 cylinder diesel) and in fact the engine seems to love it.

The 3.2 litre 5 cylinder engine is from the Puma line of engines. Essentially the same engine your 2005 Mondeo would have had with an extra cylinder lumped on the end.

A5/B5 is a fuel economy version of A3/B4. It is not a downgrade in any way. In fact most of us consider it to be an upgrade. Thicker oils generally protect better.

I can’t top what you have but a 2014 Fiesta 1.5 tdci and then a 2018 Endeavour 3.2 tdci with enough oil changes say that I’m comfortable with my choice of api ck4 or acea a3b4.

A5/B5 is a fuel economy version of A3/B4. It is not a downgrade in any way. In fact most of us consider it to be an upgrade. Thicker oils generally protect better.

So why bother having different oils?

After all they are all the same.

Except nobody wants an oil spec for the 3.2 5 cylinder
