They had my '75 Maverick, '65 Mercury, and '90 Oldsmobiles, plus my favorites like the '66 Impala (Gawd, how I love the layout of that instrument panel!), '61-'65 Lincoln Continental, and '66 Buick and Thunderbird.
The difference between then and now, I think, comes down to this: modern cars are hyped for safety and economy, and (in the case of luxury models) handling; in the '60s cars were hyped for power, special features, and smoothness of driving experience. Ads mentioned fuel economy, but only for the smaller, "compact" cars. Glamor was all (though price was in there: "No other luxury car costs so little" from Thunderbird, for example).
