I've found a few 90915-20003 Factory M series filters, but I doubt they're worth $20+

Nope. Been discontinued at HF for some time now. I own the same one since 2010, made in Taiwan and came with a red case, cost ~$15 with a coupon. Works well. Later HF moved production to China and several members reported them to be 'junk' that quickly fell apart. Not long after HF discontinued them.
And opens to ~3&1/4", so works for many/most filters ime.
