Champ filters are shorter in length?

Decided to throw a Champ Xl filter in the Rockauto cart last week with some other parts. It’s the 2835 filter, (or a Fram 3614, Motorcraft 910s equivalent). Interestingly, it’s quite a bit shorter than those. It’s only 3.11” in length, whereas every other 3614 equivalent I’ve seen has been 3.3-3.4”. I wonder why the Champ is so much shorter?

Filter consolidation. Why have 500 different sizes of filters when 200 will fit everything.

Double check the stamped marking on the domenof the filter to make sure it's the right part number. I've had 2 shipments of Champ filters from Rock Auto be mislabeled.

Bought three of the 2835XL for my nephews Ford Escape from RA, a bit shorter then 3614 but they seem comparable to the MC910s.

Often the outer case is shorter but they have roughly the same media area, etc.

The XL are great filter

Remember, it's not the size that matters!
