Background check

I've got a background check for a new job I've been offered a position.

They wants the last seven years of employment but one job I didnt list on my resume as I didnt work there long as my hands were allergic to chemicals at this job

So according to the rules of background check I'm most likely disqualified as I didnt list this position am I correct?

The resume doesn't matter, what did you put on the application? And background checks typically look for criminal convictions and education, along with verifying employment listed.

If you left off brief employment I doubt it'll matter, but typically they want all your time accounted for so hopefully you didn't fudge the dates.

Equifax has a service that sells employment information such as salary to employers and creditors.

I doubt a brief job where you left after a short employment stint will be a big deal, explain if needed.

Companies report SALARY info to Equifax?? First I've heard of that one-wonder if it's available free upon request, like a credit report?

They might question it but as long as you are truthful about it you’ll be fine.

Background checks should be independent of resume.

If I listed all my jobs on my resume, it would be 5 pages long.

Yes - they don't care about work history, they care about whether you are a person of ethics & integrity or not.

Criminal back ground and BAD CREDIT hurt the ability to get a job!!!!

I only ever list the jobs that are applicable to the position applied for.

If you forgot a brief job you forgot and will have an opportunity to explain if there's a small (not large) discrepancy.

If this is for a government security clearance they'll have your W2s.

It is and you can request it. I did. It's an Equifax subsidiary. If you cannot locate the website, PM me.

Employers voluntary report salary info. Not all of mine were listed. It benefits the employers. You want to buy a car on a Sunday, the dealer can check with this place on Sunday. Creditor no longer bother the employer with employment verification.

There is also a 4th credit reporting agency you can get a report from. I did.

Sometimes, past employers may have gone out of business or otherwise don't exist anymore. For example, if you worked at Blockbuster. Franchises are another.

You could always call the person you interviewed with and let them know you missed telling them about one short-lived job and give them the details. Slight risk but shows integrity and character.

This. If you were applying for a job as an engineer, no one would be concerned if you didn't mention that you worked at Dairy Queen.

I'd say that depends on the level and agency of investigation... Don't think the OP is in that deep yet.

I have had a Top Secret clearance for over 20 years now. I get a background check every 5 years. I am going to make the assumption that company wants to verify
you are not lying and don't have some weird criminal stuff in your past. I don't list everything I have done on my resume.
Shouldn't be an issue. I am sure some sort of an interview will be conducted where you can explain anything they find during the background check.

For a Top Secret it pretty amazing what they look for and what they actually find.

Most of the time, the background check is used to verify that you don't have any criminal background.

I finished up the background test last week,so thats been completed with all dates current on every job within the past 7 years.

I've never been involved with any illegal activity,so I'm not sweating this much at all.

Today I went in to get a drug test,passed that with flying colors.

Now I wait,crossing my fingers!
