Anybody use CarShield?

Man I remember Ice T saying if you don’t have Car Shield it could be game over. Sounds like that’s the case when you do have it.

I’ve changed, if I get a 2025 Tahoe I probably do want an extended warranty. I’ve learned GM can be just as expensive as any car…
 
Most things that break on a car are actually considered "wear" items. Items break as a result of lack of maintenance following the service schedule listed in the back of the owner's manual.

Keep an emergency fund instead of paying premiums for a doubtful claim. Most consumer guides are very leery of aftermarket warranty add-ons on any consumer goods. They aren't worth it.

If you follow your owner's manual scheduled maintenance you're far less likely to have something break in the first place.

DO NOT USE CAR SHIELD!! I know this question was posted last year, but I’m posting warnings all any and all forums I find. I have paid over $1400 to car shield for my monthly payments. I now have an engine that needs replaced and they want to run all these diagnostics on my car, but I have to pay for them. And if they don’t approve my engine replacement, I’m responsible for the diagnostics. WHY!? I don’t want them, my mechanic is who I trust. Then, I wanted to speak to the adjuster and I wasn’t “allowed” to unless I was with my mechanic. And, they wouldn’t tell me if the adjusters were certified mechanics. ***!? So, I’m done with them. I have to cut my losses, but I’m going to at least try to warn as many people as possible.
Depending on what state you are in, there is a chance there is no such thing as a "certified mechanic." In California there is no state test or anything to say someone is certified to work on a car.
 
2018 Nissan Rogue, AWD w hybrid transmission. 2nd owner. Whines and grinds at 78k. Trusted longtime mechanic checked ot out, metal particles in trans case. $3600. Carshield contracted inspector agreed w our mechanic about all diags, test & code results but corporate would only cover $1286 after $500 deductable and a "used" replacement only (not a rebuilt, a used w 55k on it) ***?
Tried to negotiate w 4 diff adjusters/ripoff artists, "no mas"! Getting all new parts, paying diff out of pocket then dropping Carshield like a toilet seat. Stay far away and send all potential active shooters to their only office in St. Louis MO. I'll start a Go Fund Me for your bail.
 
If you notice on their commercials, when they show the map of the USA California is greyed out. They are not allowed to operate here, that should tell you something about their company.
 
I've bought 2 extended warranties in my lifetime. First was a service contract but it was direct from Honda and the price quoted to me in the finance office I bounced back on numerous times like no don't want it to where the initial price evaporated to such a small percentage I actually bought it and of of course never used it since was a very reliable Honda but didn't annoy me cause warranty was really cheap.

Second warranty was actually just a tire/rim warranty on a Mercedes. This cost me more than many years of the Honda service warranty and the first time in my life I actually made out on any type of warranty as Chicago=potholes, Mercedes=soft rims. Each rim was 1k+ and each run flat was $300+ and I received a good handful of free replacements over the years to where I probably made 200%+ of warranty cost. :)

I've heard some warranty programs aren't horrible like CarMax etc... but I have no clue as never used them. Personally I would never use a third party warranty company as the list of exclusions to what they will cover will be huge or new versus rebuilt parts etc... Direct warranty through manufacturer possible but only if ya say no a bunch of times and have a more desperate finance guy that actually keeps dropping the price to where it actually makes some form of sense. Third party or full price manufacturer warranty I wouldn't touch.
