Amsoil the best but Pennzoil for the win?

Use the spec your engine requires. Simple.

Toyota, MB, VW are three that just popped in my head. People used the recommend oil and OCI. Engines failed.

The good news is both the oil and engine manufacturers stepped up their respective games.

I'm trying to avoid these micro whiz-motors that dump incomplete combustion products into the oil and don't change combustion parameters fast enough to avoid LSPI. These things are real frankenstein monsters sacrificing everything for ultimate fuel mileage.

Since CAFE & EPA are forcing this change to happen, I'm driving the conventional engines longer in avoidance. Already have one GDI, but it's big enough (3.6L GM) and naturally aspirated where I haven't had any issues. I'd be to the point of considering an EV if I didn't life in the cold north.
