Please do tell us which Grp 4/5 oils....

So the guy has a lexus and I am sure the extra $3 per qt (about extra $12 total) will not kill him from XL to a SSO or ASM..

or go to the dealer and pay $80 for a dino change..

I buy way more then $100 a year and factor in the PC price..It would be about 8.05 per qt.:)

That's good for you then, but the point is SSO is a fine well built oil that can go allot longer interval then that was the only point i was making.

Ok but don't you think 12k is a fine interval?

You will not buy a true group IV/V blend lubricant anywhere at 6.95 per quart or less.

I thought the XL line was Group III.

Amsoil XL line is a group III.

We were simply comparing the price difference of true group IV/V syns versus group III.

You can't buy a true group IV/V synthetic at retail price for less than about 8-9 dollars per quart.

as a preferred customer to Amsoil, you can buy group IV/V blends starting around 7.05 per quart. It pays to be a dealer or PC of Amsoil.

Some cars it is way fine and some no..You need to do/get a baseline UOA, mark sure tune ups are done etc...

This is a slightly longer filter than the PL10241 filter that is listed for my motor.
All the other specifications are identical, just a slightly longer case which is slightly more media.
It fits will no issue.

WIX filters are another good choice, also sold under the NAPA GOLD name.

What is critical is to make SURE that the PCV valve, located in the rear valve cover......toward the passenger side.....does not become clogged.
If the PCV valve gets clogged, you will have sludge issues.

I am sure that the Amsoil oil will be fine for a 5K to 7.5K Oil Change Interval with reserve to spare.

I am not going to put words into Amsoil's mouth, but give my take on what they are saying about their EA filter line.....
I would be absolutely confident in their filter for the 5K to 7.5K oil change interval, but would not feel comfortable with ANY oil filter for the 25K mile interval that they advertise this filter for.
Of course, cost becomes an issue when using a expensive filter for a shorter time period.

I have not used Amsoil but run Redline for a 5K OCI in that engine, so the cost argument would be as much against what I am doing as it would be with Amsoil.
My take.....(an only my opinion), I take the money I save by doing the job myself and spend it on the products that I use to do the job.
However, each person has to make that choice on their own.

I have the 2jzge motor, the pcv valve has been replaced so no worries there. Since I do the oil changes my self I dont mind paying the extra to pay for the SSO or XLF series, my main concern is that of the filter and hoping that it can take a 7k OCI.

I would not worry at all about the filter lasting that interval with time to spare.
You mentioned the Pure One filter, which is a very well regarded filter.
Also, again just my opinion, the Amsoil filter would be more than fine for 7K miles also.
7K is well within the range of most any higher quality filter.
The Amsoil folks, like Pablo, can direct you to the Amsoil product that will best suit your goals.

Skip the XL and spend the few extra greenbacks (XL to ASM, example, it like $2 more per qt) and step-up to the ASM or SSO..And skip there oil filter unless you put on a zillion miles. A Pureone, MANN, etc will do 7K miles no problem.
