I've replaced all 8 spark plug threads on my '98 F250/5.4 engine with Timeserts. Yea, cylinder #4 was a PITA, but it's easily doable.
I stick a clear plastic flexible hose down into the cylinder hooked up to a Shop Vac to suck up all the filings. I always inspect the cylinders with a borescope and keep vacuuming until most or all have been sucked up.
You won't get 100% of them, but you can get it too look pretty clean before the plug and coil go back in. My '98 has well over 250K miles and doesn't use any oil.
