hello group. i'm new to posting on here, but been following since this site basically started, and now i decided to jump in for some feedback. i need this groups opinion. recently i purchased a 69 corvette, 350 thats been rebuilt about 1100 miles before my purchase. previous owner says that engine builder was from ga. this is what i know so far. the block is original, .30 over, brodix track 1 aluminum heads, victor jr 1" high rise, 750 no choke 4150, about 11:1 compression, no info on the cam though, and in cab timing adjustment. im just giving the rough specs on the motor, there's more specs if needed. apparently they put 4.56 gears in the back. so on the highway if i do go, 60mph is about 3200rpms. i definitely need to change that out
i did do the oil once, it takes about 8 or 9 quarts. [i supposed i could do a uoa on this run] i got to check the filter number, but its the 3 or 4 inch filter they were using, so i adopted that size. the last fill, i used castrol 5w50. with that oil, i seen the oil psi gauge peg 70+ and not even about 150 miles its pretty dark. i'm guessing they are using a high psi pump. i was wondering if to stick with that oil, or use a 15w40 for this motor? not sure whats the current high zinc otc oil recommended now. im still catching up on this site. i'm open to suggestions, i also can try to answer any questions about the car if needed to help narrow selections down. it doesnt matter if its dino, blend, syn, or hdeo.
thanks!
