@Skippy722 Oil control valve had metal, pan had metal and a chunk of metal, filter had metal and screen had metal. Mopar warranty wants to further break engine down and that the pictures and report from dealership isn't enough. I'm just looking at that chunk of metal wondering how that's not enough to justify. Appreciate ur opinion

I would ask the dealer what is that piece of metal and where did it come from?
As far as the metal flakes in oil, that is consistent with the rocker arm failure and cam damage.
Yeah, I mean, it's threaded and it had to come from somewhere. At first blush I thought it was a chunk of the oil filter cap or housing, but those are plastic.

There was a period of time when FCA had an unlimited time/unlimited mileage warranty. Sadly, you needed it...
Yeah, my grandparents bought an 08 T&C touring 3.8 6 speed van and they bought the unlimited powertrain warranty. I have the van now, but they were calling him and mailing him monthly always trying to buy the van back from him for ridiculous prices. The warranty was used many times. Luckily, I haven't really had many issues with it in the last 5 years.

End of story jeep torn down engine to see where point of failure. They found a bent rod along with the cams, lifters, rocker arms and replaced the engine under lifetime warranty. Pretty happy since old engine had 141k miles on it.

Update: new engine has been great since 12/23 Transmission just went out. 4/24 Getting new transmission under lifetime warranty, this thing has really paid off for me. In 4 months the jeep has new long block and new transmission. Mopar lifetime warranty for the win.

Does your jeep use the ZF 8 speed manufactured by FCA under license?

I’m surprised they didn’t just replace the engine - it’s what I’ve heard is told to some with the same Jeep - as they are afraid of metal in the gallies causing problems.

I had a 2015 Jeep Cherokee with the 3.2 variant of that engine. Never had any internal engine trouble, but I changed the oil every 5k and it ran very smooth and strong until I got rid of the thing last April at 100k.

At 75k, that car turned into a real nightmare POS. Transfer case went out and even though there was a service bulletin for replacement for that very part number, they wouldn't cover it because it was not hooked into the specific 4WD variant we had. The plastic oil filter housing warped and started leaking, had to replace the battery current sensor 3 times, shifter control went out and had to replace, transmission never did shift correctly and had a clunk at 40 mph when going uphill (had it re-flashed 5 times), on and on...
I think “nightmare POS” can apply to almost all Stellantis products past 100k. But I’ve heard the Town and Countrys were good.
