Howdy guys, picked up a new toy, well it's used but new to me.

Full load, including dvd for the kids.

Factory fill is Mobil 1 0w40 as I'm sure many of you know already, but I don't have access to any Mobil 1 locally, it's big bucks to bring in. I/we use Chevron on site, but many of the syn oils listed on chevorn's web site aren't available in Canada.

5w20, 10w30, European 5w40 to list a few.

I have most if not all mineral based oils available, 5w20 (using that in fleet Fords, great value for service) right through 10w40. I would like to use the Delo synthetic, specs listed below. I can get Amsoil, Havoline, Castrol, Napa, Chevron, Penzoil, but Chevron is my bulk lubricant, I can get it substancially cheaper than any other brands, usually 2-3 times cheaper, even by the barrel volumes, so if I can I'd really like to stay with them for complete lubricant application, much like all my fleet is already.

Filters, will be Donaldson or Wix. I also just installed a AFE stage II intake, dry filter with a rated 99.4% efficiency, so I'm confident of low contamination.

So what do you guys think, I shouldn't worry about cat contamination? I have sensors after the cats, if I didn't they would be gone :)

I'm tempted to do mineral, I change every 3,000 miles, so dirty/dusty up here, almost seems to be a waste of money, but I still have warranty, and that's another issue, will I be void running a diesel oil. In the owners manual it shows warm weather usage allows a 5w40, but not a diesel oil. Some are running 15w50, maybe in the summer....... now I'm rambling.

Thanks in advance!!

Mike.

That Chevron syn 5w-40 is probably really tough stuff. Different kind of oil from the Mobil 1 0w-40, but it might be a good option, especially if you can get it dirt cheap.

My other picks would be Pennzoil Platinum 5w-40 Euro and Amsoil 5w-40 Euro.

All else equal, I'd pick the Amsoil if it were me, but I wouldn't feel bad running any of them.

If I were living in CA, there is no way I would use anything but full synthetic. There must be some reason (prior bad experience without it) that Jeep uses M1 0W-40 as factory fill.

According to the Chevron website (people who complain about bad info from M1 should look at this pitiful website) Chevron Delo 400 LE Synthetic is also available in 0W-30. I think this might work better than the 5W-40 for that engine, especially in CA.

Good news, found out this afternoon the commercial distributor we have for lubricants just picked up Mobil!! Some pales of 0w40 factory fill on the way, thanks everyone!
