I ended up saying screw it and got PP off Amazon for 19.99 and a Fram ultra. Thought about buying a case of OEM filters off Amazon too, but the one poster said he had dry starts with them. End of the day the oil I like ended up being the cheapest at the time.

I owned one for 6 years. It has a *very* well-known penchant for excessive oil consumption. Subaru *changed* their acceptable amounts to a higher level to cover this, and still had to have a ?quiet recall? for short blocks.

I ran my car hard for a few seconds at a time, on the way home from purchase, to bed the rings. It worked well on my car - 0.5 qt consumed in 5,000 miles.
