I'm using Amsoil AME 15w-40 in my 1995 E300D. The other 2 diesels are real soot loaders, the 1995 is not. So it gets an oil that will last longer. I'll do an UOA just to make sure for all of them. I did a UOA on the 240d @ 15,000 miles using the Amsoil AME and Blackstone labs said to try 17,000 miles the next time. I went 10,000 miles on the 300SD and Blackestone labs said to go 11,000 miles the next time but I not going to do that as the soot level was at 1.7 % and Mercedes said the limit was 2%. I'm just going to use the Delvac and go 10,000 miles and then I'll let the UOA tell me what to do. On the 1995 E300d I'm going to do a UOA @ 10,000 miles with the Amsoil AME and go from there. It has electronic fuel injection so the soot loading is much less. ( .2% after 15,000 miles) I also have a 1988 mercedes 300e gas engine that I used a 15W-40 travellers oil in it. I went 10,000 miles and sent a sample UOA in and it came back with a really good report but it used a quart every 3,000 miles so I went with Mobil 1's 15W-50 to slow down the oil use but it still uses a quart every 3,000 miles. I'll just go back to the HDOE 15w-40 after my supply of 15W-50 is gone. I also have a 2008 Toyota Sienna that I use Mobil1 5W-30 EP in it. I go 20,000 miles per oil change. I use the Fram Ultra in that van. The van just hit 334,000 miles yesterday. BTW, the 240d has 316,000 miles the 300SD has 252,000 miles on it the E300d has 164,000 miles on it and the 1988 E300 has 257,000 miles on it. They all run very well and I'm pleased with all of them. Thank You, Bill
I'm a pretty big fan of the Delvac Super 1300 15W40, but I think it's not a synthetic blend, that's the Delvac Elite 15W40-but keep doing what you're doing, my '82 300D Turbo loved the stuff!
