Subaru put a small opening in the bottom engine cover. The drain plug is recessed in that opening. Filter on top of engine. Seems to be a good solution.

There were two different doors for bolt and filter. That has now ended for 2019. Supposedly this plastic cover is thinner now also.

I got the lightweight Lithium grease in a tube..... Superlube. I use it on my pistolas'. Only things I oil are the barrel and moving parts of the trigger. Everything else gets grease.
