Has Rural King changed oil suppliers?

I'm pretty particular for my Dodge diesel pickup and the wife's GMC Acadia. But for my 1994 Ranger play truck, tractors and mowers...I think RK is a great choice at a super great price. $1.79 a quart every day...and a little cheaper by the 5 quart container. Truth be told...I'm sure my Dodge...

Has Rural King changed oil suppliers?

Harvest King is the name on the new bottles of practically ALL of their house brand lubricants. The old RK bottles and jugs are gone with only a few left on the shelf. From the looks of Mid-States Distribution...that place appears to be some sort of mega distributor where places such as Rural...

Has Rural King changed oil suppliers?

I didn't expect a fast answer from Rural King, but they did answer me quickly. For anyone who also notices this...their official statement is that Mid-States Distribution is now the supplier from whom they purchase the oil from, which is still a product of Warren (Warren Oil Company Inc). I...

Has Rural King changed oil suppliers?

I've always noticed that Rural King oil containers showed Warren (I believe WPP) as the packager of their house brand oil. However they've recently changed the containers and the labels here in Indiana. Now the container no longer says Warren but rather Mid-States Distribution. Does anyone know...

    This Happened Today (worth reading)

I generally don't like posts with subject lines such as "worth reading". I'll decide that. And "You'll never believe this"...or "No way this really happened". Etc Etc. You should have put "bad experience with quick lube shop" Nonetheless, here I am. I'll stop playing subject line police. The...

2004 VW New Beetle ATF question

I will be attempting to "fix/service" a 2004 Beetle convertible with the 2.0L gas engine and the automatic transmission (paddle manual shift option). I believe the transmission is the 09G model. I know you're supposed to use the VW european ATF in the car. But this was a $2000 purchase and has...

Oil Recommended for 2014 Lamborghini Gallardo ?

This one's easy. I'd ask his son which Lamborghini dealer he'd like his father to visit for oil changes.

    "Full" Synthetic Pricing at WM

Same prices at my Wal-Mart (small store) in west central Indiana. 20 miles away at Super Wal-Mart they were re-arranging the oil shelf and were putting up PPPP but only in 5W-30 5 quart containers. My little local WM had carried Ultra but were phasing it out. Only had a few jugs left of 5W-20 at...

    Piston Slap gone with PurePlus

At work we have 5 Chevrolet silverado V8 2WD crewcab 1500 pickups. All but one of them lost an engine at around the 170,000 mile mark at most...with some as low as 130,000. One locked up while at idle. They all began ticking...then louder knocking toward the end. All had to have Jasper reman...

pennzoil ultra-platinum, higher VI higher & noack.

I was getting the impression that Platinum would be changing formulas significantly and Ultra would just get a name change basically. Looks like that's not the actualy case.

    Meeting/exceeding specs, requirements, approvals

Out of curiosity, seems like alot of oil bottles, packages and product data sheets say alot of things in regards to meeting or exceeding something or another. If it has the "starburst" symbol it's API approved for whatever classification of service...SJ, SM or SN etc. But when you read further...

Ford Dealer Oil Changes in other brand cars.

Ok ok. I'm not making any statements as declared absolute fact. I have researched a bit. And I've found information pointing to both sides of the question. My 2012 Jeep owners manual says "Use API Certified SAE 5W-20 Engine Oil, meeting the requirements of Chrysler Material Standard MS-6395"...

Ford Dealer Oil Changes in other brand cars.

I ask specifically because of the oil used. We all know Motorcraft blended oils are more than adequate for any vehicle calling for that viscosity and API. But the out for Chrysler (or anybody for that matter) was that such oil wasn't "approved" for MS-9999 or Dexos 5000 or whatever. In the case...

using impact wrench for removing spark plugs

Ford 300 you say? I've owned two of those. Couple hundred thousand miles on each. The rear three plugs always seemed to "seize" in the heads alot more than the fronts. From what I remember. The #6 was always took some serious torque with a bar.

Ford Dealer Oil Changes in other brand cars.

I know some people who have newer Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge vehicles and they prefer to have the local Ford dealer change their oil. The Ford dealer uses Motorcraft oil and filters unless they don't have the filter they need. Then they'll use a Napa Gold/Wix. Anyhow...if a person has a Chrysler...

using impact wrench for removing spark plugs

My 2003 trailblazer valve cover had plug removal instructions molded into it with BIG letters. DO NOT REMOVE SPARK PLUGS WHEN HOT. Anyhow...I've always cracked them loose what I could cold...then shot Kroil down in the holes (such as on the trailblazer). Let it sit overnight and work them in...

    Pennzoil synthetic basic question

Yes I know that. But life is short and I want to believe that I'm doing something perfectly at least once. My walmart has "old" style Ultra in 5qt jugs for $25.17. In fact every name brand of synthetic is exactly $25.17. Pretty good deal to get Ultra for $5/quart. It's nearly $9 in individual...
