Depending upon the shade of brown, you may have some kind of problem in that engine. (Slight coolant contamination, dilution of some sort, etc.) Does the dipstick smell like gasoline? It is not supposed to.
There are healthy shades of engine oil color, and those that would indicate that something is wrong.
Some cars blacken oil quickly and the oil is fine. Turbos and diesels, for example.
