Anyone know what this is or anything about it? I stumbled across 18 liters for free. Is it synthetic or dino? Hdeo or pcmo? Ever seen a uoa or voa?

That was the 1st generation 505.01 oil for VW TDIs from 2004 - 2006; HDEO, synthetic (likely majority group 3). Good stuff, especially for the price!

I would gladly take it off your hands for a case of beer if you were closer.

A friend of mine has a 2006 jetta but its a gas engine. It calls for a 5/40 502 spec. Will this be ok to use in it? The syntec he uses meets 505 and 502 but this oil doesn't say 502. What do you guys think? Could he run it?

Im also thinking of using some in one of my vehicles as well. But I will put about anything in that f150

Also the few uoas I found show it to have calcium levels around 2000 and zinc levels around 1000. Phosphorus was 8-900. That sounds more like a SL rated oil to me. Am I missing something?

505 is a Diesel spec. The 505.01 spec came out for the Pump Duse Diesel.

Well thanks for the replies guys!
Im super stoaked about my new free synthetic oil

I can wait to run it

It should work fine in your buddy's Jetta or either of your vehicles - if anything it's overkill for all of those applications but that's one wonderful thing about free oil!

502.00 is for gasoline.

505.00 was for earlier VE TDIs, 505.01 & 506.01 were for the Pumpe Düse engines.

IIRC, that only happened after the 505.01 reformulation.

I only recall seeing it as Castrol SLX Professional OE 5w30. Extremely weak sauce in PDs!

Lol thanks scurvy.

Btw that friend of mine is running VWB right now. Seems he got tired of paying for the castrol syntec 5/40 he was running. So its definitely a step up.

A lot of 2004-06 TDI owners would pay $10 a quart for your oil. If it's a 5w-40 weight. It's rare and hard-to-find 505.01 in the states.

Rather than waste it on a gas car, I'd sell it on ebay, collect $180 and then buy Twice as much Mobil 1 or Pennzoil Pltinum or QSUD.

You could very well find a buyer at that price, especially if they were local.

I'm dead serious. 1st-gen 505.01 oils were very, very good.

Really? I would also trade it for 3 jugs of PP or PU 5/30.

one thing I find funny is it says on the bottle not for extended drains but the vw interval is 10k. Whats an extended drain in Germany? 20k
