My daughter's 2002 Nissan Sentra 1.8
2.8 qts. Pennzoil Synthetic 5w30
PureOne filter
She bought the Sentra over the summer, and this was the first opportunity I had to do the oil change. If I find whoever did the previous change, I will wreak vengeance upon them and their children's children. I have never run-across a drain bolt so utterly frozen in-place. After finally getting it off, I examined it and discovered that there were two copper crush washers on the bolt, and they had been flattened paper-thin and practically fused together. It took me a long time to wrestle them off the bolt.
I'm used to the ease of oil changes on our Maxima, so I wasn't prepared for the filter location on the Sentra. Way in back and up on the block, requiring you to fit your hand up and around a support beam and the catalytic converter. This immediately told me that there would be no way to avoid an arm-full of oil, once the filter was loosened. But, that would take awhile, since the filter was on almost as tight as the drain bolt was. Obviously, the previous mechanic had never heard of "finger tight".
I eventually got it off (and got an arm-full of oil, as I expected). I was surprised that the Sentra 1.8 takes only 2.8qts of oil. The 1.8 in my GTi takes 4.2qts.
Anyway, it's on the road, and my back hurts badly.
