I have a 8.5hp craftsman chipper/shredder. One of the three finger pieces has come off, and I need to remove the flywheel that holds the cutting teeth. Anyone have any experience with getting this off?.,,

Normally, on small, homeowner type chippers, you just loosen the plate the engine is mounted on (not the engine mounting bolts). The engine and blade all come out as one piece. You just use a puller to get the blade off the bottom of the engine. You may have to remove covers and disconnect kill switch wires to get the plate ready to lift off. Take a digital picture or two before you start so you can answer your own assembly questions later. Don't even try to weld the blade pieces back in place. It will not hold. Don't let anyone tell you different. Buy a new blade. If the engine is a Tecumseh, only lay the engine with the muffler up to avoid an oil mess.
