At pp. 193-194 there is this " The Commission has found that ... For gun violence in particular, mental illness contributes greatly to rates of suicide but marginally to homicide rates." (my emphasis added)
Yet, the lengthy list of firearm recomendations seemed to completely miss this point. The list of firearm and ammunition reccomendations, which is more accurately phrased as restrictions, was like reading a Bloomberg wish list. They just hate guns.
I confess that, at 277 pages, the constraints on my time required that I skim the document - nevertheless, it seemed that in every instance where a choice among "rights" might be required to be made, the enumerated second amendement rigbht would have to be the yielding right in every instance. If there is a contrary example, I would welcome someone directing my attention to it. Again, my conclusion is, they just hate guns.
This should be required reading. It is a real insight into the minds of people who just want to control other people, and have no interest in letting facts get in the way of that process.
As bad as it was for law abiding Connecticut gun owners, it obviously could have been a lot worse.
