Trying to replace left rear brake light on a 2003 Jeep GC. we unscrewed the 2 screws on the side and it was loose, but we couldnt get the assembly out. It seems something was holding it in the back of the light.... any suggestions?

Yes, I do. This is a common means of attaching the rear tail light assembly on SUV's and trucks. It allows hidden screws when the tail gate or rear door is closed. When you remove the two screws, you can pull the whole assembly out. The outside part without screws is held by two probes that are just stuck in the body and held by rubber grommets. Gently work the assy back and forth while pulling to remove it. It will eventually pop out. The first time you remove the tail light assy, you feel like you are going to break something. You won't.
