Oh, and last week it was an oil change on the Chevy S10 using a Napa Gold/Wix filter and 5w30 Maxlife Synthetic. So that is three oil changes in 8 days. I have two more to do before winter.

The previous oil had about 2k miles on it but was in there for 14 months.

In: Mobil 1 High Mileage 5W-30
Filters are always Motorcraft. I went with the high mileage because of the age of the engine, not the miles. We just don't put that many miles on it. However, when it is driven, it is typically 18 miles for about 35 minutes, so it gets fully warmed up and doesn't idle much. I'm guessing this engine has a pretty easy life. My brother has an F250 with the 5.4 that has over 300k trouble free miles, and it ran 5w30 all its life. I just don't see the point in 5w-20 in this engine, although it probably doesn't make any difference.

I'm a little surprised it tripped the service reminder this soon. The OLM must do more than just sense time, miles, and/or rpms. Anyway, the car runs great and seems to like the oil. It never uses a drop. It holds 8 quarts, so if it did, it would have plenty to spare.
